Frightlighter: First True Superhero

Supervillains are inevitable. Superheroes are not.

Theodore Elston did not know the importance of the life he saved. He barely recalls the day after a brutal assault by a criminal gang. Having thwarted and embarrassed them in the midst of a deadly gang war, they want more than mere revenge.

He is one of the few dual citizens of Usonia, where the same land is divided by two rival claimants to sovereignty.

Lane Taylor is the man he saved. A reclusive comic book legend isolated in retirement, he is disturbed by his legacy and the state of his nation.

Theodore Elston is forced by circumstance to ask Lane Taylor to help him be his greatest creation: the world’s first actual living superhero.

Can fiction truly become reality?

Typically, superhero stories and shonen anime exist in settings with a long history of superheroes and supervillains, or at least magic.

Individually, superheroes have origin stories, but there are already people like them out there.

Frightlighter: First True Superhero is about becoming a superhero in a world where they were previously only fiction.

How do you deal with the moral choices? The practical challenges?

How do you convince the public – and both politicians and law enforcement – that you should be treated as more than a vigilante?
