Writing Wishes

I write what I wish I had been able to read.
This page will be progressively re-developed as projects near completion.
I've read a lot of books with strong action and engaging characters. I've also read a lot of books with interesting ideas... but it has been rare for me to read books that combine both. That is in part what I seek to do with my writing. Having strong ideas with interesting premises that are matched by compelling characters.
I like my fictional worlds to be immersive... part of that immersion comes from having worlds that feel like people actually live there. So my work has a LOT of worldbuilding, although most of it probably may not be directly visible in what is published. Such worldbuilding materials will be shared here, including maps, flags and appendixes.
I'm not sure yet whether to go down the self-publishing route or to go the traditional publishing route. While I prefer the former as a concept, the simple reality is that traditional publishing provides a better avenue for being seen by more people and thus to be able to sustainable do creative stuff full-time. In part, how this site does and how my social media does will help influence which way I go.
Because of the level of worldbuilding, I am open to making like the Star Wars: Expanded Universe and Star Trek: Novelverse in opening up the setting of my works to other authors. Obviously that is not going to happen unless my work is good enough to be able to succeed, but this is about the long-term.
